5 STEPS TO build your EVENT RECORDER

The Trainnet® modules used to build you Event Recorder are inserted in a rack of suitable size and features.
The information below will give you a good overview of possible choices and configurations.
Other options exist and we recommend you to contact us to develop the most efficient system for your needs.

 

STEP 1. Choose protection level and memory size
The data logger is basically an advanced CPU. You can choose a CPU with Rugged Memory Module (RMM)
for maximum protection or a CPU with integrated logging memory (not rugged).

Rugged Memory Module (RMM)


To be used if you need:
- highly protected logging memory
- up to 16 GB of memory


 

Central Processing Unit with Serial Links (CPS, CPF)

To be used if you need:
- standard protection as per railway standard EN 50155
- up to 4 Go of memory

 

Central Processing Unit with Serial Links and GPS (CPS-GPS)

To be used if you need:
- 1 Ethernet port
- 3 RS-485 ports
- 1 USB interface
- 1 integrated GNSS receiver
   
             
EKE Trainnet OMG front                      

Onboard Mobile Gateway (OMG)

To be used if you need:
- 1 GNSS receiver (GPS)
- Wi-Fi Connectivity
- LTE Connectivity (3G, 4G)

           

 

 

 

STEP 2. Add the bus interface modules that you need
Trainnet® Event Recorders are modular: you can add only the bus interface modules you need, for cost-efficiency.
It is possible to combine them freely, even adding several similar modules.

Unmanaged Ethernet Switching Unit (UM-ESU)

To be used if you need:
- Unmanaged switch (8 ports)

To be used if you need:
- Managed switch or 10 ports
 

Serial Links Interface Unit (SIU)

a) 8 x RS-485 half or full duplex
b) 6 x RS-485 half or full duplex and 2 x RS-232
       

 

 

 

STEP 3. Add the Input/Output signal modules that you need
Like for Bus Interface modules, any combination of Trainnet® I/O modules can be added to the Event Recorder.

Analogue Input Module (AIM)


To be used if you need:
- 10 current channels
- 10 voltage channels
- 4 frequency channels
 

High Speed Analogue Input Module (HSA)

To be used if you need:
- 4 current channels
- 4 voltage channels
- 4 frequency channels
 

Digital Input/Output Module (DIO)


To be used if you need:
- 24 input channels
- 8 input or output channels
- 2 frequency input channels

Pt100 Temperature Sensor Input Module (PTI)

To be used if you need:
- 6 PT-100 measurement channels

 

 

Analogue Output Module (AOM)

- 16 analogue output channels
  (4 groups with 4 channels each)
- Each group has 2 PWM outputs
 



   

 

 

 

STEP 4. Add the appropriate Power Supplies
Most systems can be powered using the Trainnet® PSV and Trainnet® PIU modules.
However, EKE also has other solutions: contact us for full details.

Power Supply Unit for VME (PSV)

Description:
- Provides 5 V DC and 12 V DC output to power the ER
- Operated with 24, 36, 48, 52, 72 and 110 V DC via the Trainnet® PIU


 

Power Input Unit (PIU)

Description:
- Pass the train battery voltage to the Trainnet® PSV module
- Input voltage can be 24, 36-52, 72 or 110 V DC
       

 

 

 

STEP 5. Choose the appropriate rack for your System
